Pregnancy: Oral hygiene

When you are pregnant, it is important to look after your health aswell as your teeth. The hormonal changes that happen during your pregnancy can increase the chance of developing gum disease.

Tell your dentist as soon as you a pregnant, as this will let us know to limit the use of x rays and will only be used in the cases of emergencies and precautions will be taken during this time. Tell your dentist what medicines you are taking as this can affect what treatment will be provided.

Brush thoroughly twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and floss daily. Eat a well-balanced diet, rich in calcium, which will get you all the nutrients for yourself and the baby

Keep your dentist informed of the pregnancy and any changes in your medication
